I agree, it is a wonderful wedding gift! Very elegant - the couple who receive this will be VERY happy! Please add me to the list of wanting to know what fonts you used and details of the cuts. Trying to figure out if the letters were flipped so they are behind the glass.

I too would love to know how to do this. I am new to all this stuff but not to crafts am picking it up fast. I started with a cricut create, then my granddaughter came to live with us and she tripped on the cord to my computer ( had set up design studio) and the create went kerplunk on the floor..it still works but I am leery of it. The next day my wonderful husband, who saw the tears in my eyes when the cricut crashed ( it was a gift from my wonderful son and his wife, he waited on Black Friday after Thanksgiving a couple years ago at Joanns to get it on sale) walked into the house with a new Expression:) And new mats, new accessories..so now I better use them lol.
Havent had TIME with the little one here to do alot but would like to start decorating nurseries etc..
I want to do primarily vinyl wall stuff but am sure I will move on to cards now that I have gotten the cartridge wall decor and more, what a great cartridge that is!
Thanks for listening!

I have made several of those - using software that can no longer be mentioned or used with Cricut. So many neat & creative things are not available anymore. My Vinyl Designer has the split letter vector art available at a very reasonable price if you also use a compatible cutter/software. Check out their facebook page for some awesome ideas!

You know it REALLY bites that we can only use cricut brand products!!!!!!!!! We spent A LOT of money on our products and should have the right to use it the way we see fit!!!!!!! I do not mind at all buying cricut cartridges, but we should also be able to use "other" programs/products with OUR products!!!!!!!!!! I mean once we shell out the ridiculous amount of money, we should be able to do what we want with our products... Just saying.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. I first saw these split letter frames on Vinyl Designer and thought how could I do that with my cricut?, well with trial and error, I used my Design Studio, and the SchoolBook cartridge for the capital M and for the names. I played with pulling and stretching the M until I got it to the way I liked it. To split the M I welded a very thin rectangle to the M and positioned the rectangle a little higher than the middle of the M. It took quite a few attempts until I got the look I wanted it. The circuit cut it, I then used an x-acto knife to cut it in half. I very carefully moved the lower half down. With another mat I cut the names out and with transfer tape moved them to the mat with the M. I do have to be honest I wanted a fancier & sign so I had someone else cut it with their program. I covered everything with transfer tape and placed it between the glass of a floating frame. I hope I explained this so you could understand.I will be making a few more for Christmas gifts. Again, thank you for your comments

That took a lot of thought - great job!
The ones I have been making, I have just used a single pane of glass - the one that comes with the frame. I apply all the vinyl to the front of the glass and glue it in to the frame. It looks good that way also.
I have found silver metallic contact paper that I used for the & between the names - it looks really cool! I like the use of the color vinyl on your first names. That really makes it pop!
