I have been told that you can now make your own embossing folders using your cricut. Can someone explain how to make them? Or is there any videos out there that shows how?
Thanks!

there are several ways to make your own embossing mats, I havent done too many because because I usually just buy them cheap, but you dont have to buy those kits, I seen a post here one time the lady just used cereal boxes, I believe she scored it in half after she cut out the pattern on one side, sold in half and glue the pieces or negative i guess in the empty spots, for deaper embossing cut out more of the pieces and glue on top, I have been thinking about doing this but I cant make up my mind what images to use. I made one once where I bought the really thin cutting mats from the dollar store, stamped an image on one side, turned over and traced the image with dimensional glue and let dry, it worked awesome, but the glue wasnt deep enough to get a deep impression, could try shimming it or redo the glue on top to make it deeper. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm now you got me thinking about working on making some of these I still have the plastic chopping mats i bought to make a bunch......anyway have fun finding different ways to double emboss

Catherine, Those are great! Could you explain a little more detailed how you made the folders or whatever you did to make these embossed images?

Sure I cut the images out with my cricut Xmas cart glued the cutouts to card stock then coated everything with modpog. The smaller items like the snowflakes were MS punches. once dried I placed my card front on top of my newlly created embossing plate along with a rubber spacer and done

On the one with the Red & White ornament you can see one of the ornaments has a star cutout, I glued that cutout star to another ornament before coating it.

Thanks Catherine! I have a "different" texture machine...so I'm not sure it would work the same for me since there's no rubber mat. But I was thinking that maybe I could use the "male" on one side of the folder and "female" portion on the other side of the folder for something simple anyway.

If you use a Cuttlebug you can buy Gasket material from Home Depot, You just need to build the thickness up so it as thick as a folder.

I experimented with a bunch of methods and found that this one, using magnet sheets, is easiest and gives the crispest impression. http://cleversomeday.wor.../2010/05/29/easy-emboss/
