I'm a scrapper and after seeing all the cute cards people have made on here I've been inspired to get into card making. What are the general dimentions for a card size? Also do you mostly make your own envelopes?

Thanks for the help!

Mine are usually about 5x7, but I've made smaller and larger ones. If I can find a ready made envelope to fit my cards, I'll use that.. otherwise I make one....and Welcome to Card Making!!! BigGrin

Well, people make different card sizes and some shaped cards as well. But, the most common handmade card size is known as A2. Those cards are 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. Basically, an 8 1/2 x 11 paper cut in half! Also, 6x6 cards are very popular as are the larger 5x7. It all boils down to personal preference. I don't make my own envelopes - I like the clear ones. But, I have seen some beautiful envelopes here.

HTH!

Oh, you will love making cards !! I typically make A2 size cards. Thats 4/14 x 51/2. Much smaller than your 12x12 Scrapbook pages ! lol Sometimes I do make my envies, but most of the time I just buy envelope packs from Michaels or Hobby Lobby and sometimes I line them with coordinating papers...for special cards and extra special people. I hope this helps... Cant wait to see your creations !!

I have the MS score board too, which I love, and that is what I use to make envelopes and score cards. I make the A6 size - because it gives me a little more space to work with vs. the A2. I love to make coordinating envelopes for my cards. Just a tip that someone gave me when I started, always make your envelope first, so you will ensure the card will fit properly. I am like you, I have been scrap booking for some time but just now getting into card making and I love it. And, you will get tons of inspiration from the MBs. There are some really talented people here - so good luck and share your creations with us.

Look inside the lid of the storage tray for the bone folder on your score board it will give you the all the sizes you need - size of paper to start with and the measurements for the fold scores.

All my cards are 5x7, 6in. square or 5 1/4 squares. I just feel so restricted making anything smaller and some of these intricate cricut designs can not be cut too small. I also mostly make all my envelopes because I like them to match the card and I use the ms scoring board to do them. i love that thing.

Good Day

I make all my cards A6 and they work out great. I can get envelopes for them at no problem mailing them is not an issue either. They are a good size to work with. I do make A2 but they are mostly for thank yous and invitations to showers, birthday and etc.

I hope you enjoy making cards I know that I sure do..

Thanks
Patti
