sunnieday: thank you for hosting and your sketches are amazing. LOL! I love making sketches using the cartridges then cutting them right out to make my cards too. Great sample cards. Your choices of papers and colors are beautiful!

I'm going to repeat my last few comments from last week's thread just in case some of you missed it because we rarely go back once new sketches are up! BigGrin

SHELBYWOO wrote:
raq great cards......that first one is wow, love those colors!!!!!! flowers are amazing....and the second that image is so cute, was it a free one somewhere??

There are hundreds of free images on the internet but of course, most will ask that you just link back to where you find them. Also, when looking for images, don't limit yourself to finding "digital images" and expand your search to "coloring"

Joyful Carol: I love what you did with sketch 1... everything about it! The hotdog and hamburger are so cute! I think I'll scrap-lift these... my kids would love these! I can just imagine their faces if they find those inside their lunchboxes... hah hah... "guess what's for lunch?!"

*NanaDonna*: cute cute doggie card... great colors! I really need to start making more male cards

Suevan911: very elegant card... I've always loved that center cut from Cindy Loo

Sunnie, thanks for hosting this week... love the sketches!!! I had this flower sitting on my tablet all week...so I thought today I would put a card together using it... I think it will match the first sketch... now since I finished this so fast I will just have to do one of the other sketches later... That means more fun!!! Thanks!!!

cartridges I used:
Cindy Loo - flourish (stem)
Elegant Edges - Happy Birthday embellishments
Mother's Day Bouquet - Flower.

Thank you Sunnieday for hosting this week and Dee for the colours.

Sunnieday – all great cards! I like how you inked and layered the flower for Sketch #1. Cute seal in the second card! And lovely bright butterflies in the third card!

Carrottop – Two cards already – good for you! BigGrin How nice for you to use something that you created! Lovely pink flower with lots of layering! Very pretty! Like the stitching in your second card and embossing! Nice idea with the petals!

Although the ad colours might tend to suggest a guy card, I decided to make a very "girlie-girl" card. Not sure for what occasion yet - but I'm sure one of my girlfriends (or my daugther's friends) will be happy to receive it.

Cricut used - Forevery Young for the dress form (thank you Joanneorbash for using it a few weeks back and reminding me about the different images). The background is kraft paper embossed and inked with Fire Brick red distress ink. The double bow idea is one that I ran across in a back issue of Colour Inspiration magazine.

Now to do some thinking for the other two sketches! Looking forward to seeing everyone's lovely work!

Thanks Sunnie for hosting.

This is my sketch #1

SORRY, no cricut on it, but I have had this paper and waiting to use it..and I found the center ribbon "thingy" in my stash!
The inside sentiment says " A little Birdie Told Me" Happy Birthday.

Sunnieday - Thanks for Hosting this week. Nice sketches and sample cards. I really liked #2(?) with the Seal, so I made that one first.

DeeScraps - Great Ad Color Challenge this week ("guy" cards here we come!!LOL). Actually, not sure how I will use the colors. I'll think of something!

Here is my Sketch #2 Card:

Bee - Give A Hoot Cartridge
Sentiment - Computer generated
Embossed White Cardstock - From NanaDonna...Don't know name of CB folder
Black square cuts - Lacy Labels
I added googly eyes to Bee and cut a second image of the Bee in vellum to make the wings and embossed them with the "Branches" CB folder, added glitter gel pen touches here and there to the wings and Bee. The small Bee is a rub-on transfer. Added yellow Brads and polkadot yellow ribbon.

Sunnie - thanks for these sketches, so different....love the samples cards, so colourful, love the frosted butterflies....and a great take on the ad colours with your last one...

Dee - thanks for the ad colours - unusual combo...

Carrottop - very pretty flower for sketch 1...the sympathy card is so different, love how you did the petals and I noticed a lot of handwork in the design...and a great take on the ad colours for the last one....

Gisele - very elegant sketch 1, like the dress form cut...and I see you like flower arranging too, I have all the bits and bobs for that art form too, just not very good at it....BigGrin

Suevan - I have that DCWV stack too, love it, and that is one of the prettiest pps in it...very elegant card, less is definitely more...gorgeous blingy buckle...

Josie - love the bee happy for sketch 1, so bright and cheery...don't those googly eyes always make you smile...second one is great with all those colours, love how you threaded the ribbon through that scalloped lace...love the sailboat card for sketch 3 and in the ad colours too, those red stripes really pull the eye in...very striking...

Bingolady - like the spring colours and all the texturising, bunnies card is my fave...

Suevan – Lovely Sketch #1 – very pretty paper, I can see why you wanted to use it. Love the “ribbon thingy”!

Sunnieday – you even made a card with the ad colours! Very busy lady! Great colours and yummy cupcake!

Turtlebug - Cute bee card! Lovely work on the vellum wings and great embossed background from NanaDonna! Your sketch #1 is nice and bright and everything coordinates so well! Great border with the pink ribbon running through it! And Lovely flower! Perfect card # 3 in the ad colours – love the water drops!

BingoLady – Great bright cards for Sketches #1 and 2! Love the white lacy border on the first card! Cute Easter card with all the small bunnies and colourful eggs!

Carrottop – You did all three cards – woohoo! We all see little things that we don’t like once we’ve finished our work! Nice thank you card in the ad colours! Lovely corner borders!

Izzy – I’m afraid that my flower arranging talent is limited to what I can do with paper. I bought the floral frog specifically for holding cards. BigGrin

I’m working away on the next few cards – not sure when I will get them done.

Gisele's card from last week with the sewing inspired me to do something I haven't done in ages... sew beads on paper... not very happy with this card but I do love my flower Flapper

Sketch 1

  • Card size - 4.25" x 5.5"
  • Paper - DCWV
  • Cricut cartridge: Accent Essentials - fleur de lis border

I also wanted to share this layout using last week's sketch 3

This is my daughter from this past Halloween. She's dressed up as a Hogwart's student from Harry Potter

I forgot to add "bling" but decided to keep them off because the upper part of the paper is already busy and I liked the huge solid orange as a contrast to all the busy upper half

  • Layout size - 12" x 12"
  • Papers - Scrapbooking Supplies
  • Cricut cartridge: Designer's Calendar - "Halloween"
  • Journaling - printed from computer
  • Gryffindor patch - downloaded from PatchesMall

It’s been quiet on the challenge today!

RAQ – Very pretty card with the sewn beads! I’ve since made 2 more stitched cards but haven't shared since they're not part of the challenges. I’m not sure what you’re unhappy with but the card is quite lovely and of course a very striking flower! Great Halloween layout – perfect paper and a great Hogwart student! Very pretty daughter – she certainly looks like you!

Here is my card for Sketch #3. My son will graduate from high school in June and I made this card for my mother to give him. Cricut used – Every Day Paper Dolls for graduate, 3 Birds on parade for “congratulations” and Sweethearts for the corner borders. A few skittles and one pearl inked in silver with a Sharpie.

I’m not sure yet what I will do with Sketch #2.
