Hello to everyone. I'm happy to be hosting for the first time.

This week its time to dust off your E and put your Spellbinders awayBlink .
There is one change, no sketch to follow. I'd like for us all to make (time permitting)2 cards and a little something extra!!

The first card must have at least 2 cuts from any cartridge and a shadow cut won't count as the secondBigGrin . Some great bling and Oh yes a little nod to our leader something from your craft stash that is at least a year oldBlushing go on you know you have something.

The second card must also have at least 2 cricut cuts but also some texture either from material or a embossing folder, then go to town with adding embelishments such as hardwear, ribbons, hat pins what ever you like just make sure there's lots of it.

The little something else is a set of gift tags. I've used PS cartridge for mine. Again add enbelishment lifting them from the run of the mill shop bought ones.

I hope you can play along this week, its a bit different with no sketches to follow but I know we can do it. Over the past few months lots of us have been posting with no Cricut in site (me included big time). We have spent lots of money on these machines which produce thousands of wonderful cuts so lets try to get back to it, after all it is a Cricut site.

Looking forward to all your wonderful designs.

Regards

Sue.

P.S. It's nearly midnight here, so hope you don't mind it being a tad early.

AcrossThePond, thanks for hosting these instructions for us! You are right, I am guilty for not using my cricut that much anymore! It is good that you gave us the extra push to use it! BigGrin

DeeScraps, thanks for the ad colors! The colors are so pretty together! I pray that you get better soon!

Sue thanks for hosting and thanks for making such a "challenge" to use our wonderful
Cricut machines. Sometimes it is so hard to do when the ketches are all squares or straight cuts.
I too am guilty but try very hard to use my Cricut or Imagine at least once on my cards. I hope to get
this done this week, but I am so very very behind on my Christmas cards that I need to come up with
something that I can mass produce quickly LOL Maybe that is where my Imagine should come in. Does
2 Imagine print/cuts count as 2???

Dee hope you feel better soon and thanks for the colors

Dee - Hope you get better soon. Thanks for the ad colours, they are pretty.

NanaDonna - I know what you mean about being behind on the old Christmas cards and after I decided on the challenge I made 4 cards almost the same using 3 cuts on each, surprised myself there. I don't know how the Imagine works really but I am sure what ever you do will be fine.

I remember when I first joined the challenge we use to get instructions on cuts or carts to use and the cards were so different so thought we'd give it a stab. Everyone have fun.

Just completed my first card. It's the first time I have used my newest cartridge paper lace. I bought it this year in Florida. Only one problem no battery life in camera so I'll be back later.

Well Well Well-
Thank you for bringing on such a challege. I got a phone call last night from my hubbys Aunt... she needs a card for a 60th Anniversary. I could never even imagine being married to the same person that long...

So I went to work. I used paper trimmings, art nouveau, and love struck for this card. I neededd an excuse to use a ton of bling that I havent used for a long time...

Sue, thanks so much for a "back to basics" challenge...I NEED to make some cards without using my Spellbinders!..LOL ....before I forget how to...and I was really cracking on with it yesterday and then Mike's nephew and GF turned up out of the blue and although it was great to see them it meant I had to stop crafting....and I was soooo looking forward to being the first to post....(a personal challenge)...

Sunnie - what a lovely card, great use of bling, really makes it pop!...and love that soft roses paper, so pretty...and I was really hoping to beat you and be the first to post....lol

Good morning everyone. Glad to hear you like the challenge.

Well I took my photo this morning. The card is for a friend to give to a girl who works with us all who is expecting just before Christmas. I used Paper Lace, there are some real nice cuts on this one. It's the first time I have used it. It was great just watching it cut. The buttons and ribbon are from my stash. Only a small amount of bling on thisBlushing but it's there and the teddy is off doodlecharms. I did cut a c out of story book using the center point button, but it didn't look right so I added the teddy. I'll put the c inside on the loss leaf.
Thanks for looking.

Sue, that's a lovely card, really like the muted colours and that cut too - haven't used that one yet, but it does look good and fills the front nicely - I think we forget how useful our Cricuts are at giving us toppers just at the press of a button...also like the idea of using the initial inside the card...

Sue - love your card and that tiny pacifier is adorable. You are right Paper Lace has a lot
of nice cuts and so does Paper Lace II both of which I have and I think I only used Paper Lace once.
Thanks for this great challenge to make us use out Cricuts more.

Here's my first card - and as an added challenge to myself I decided to use the first cart that fell into my hand when rummaging in my carts/handbooks box....(I didn't look, honest!)...luckily it was Elegant Edges, that gave me my base card x 7...WIMG for the Dicentra and Storybook for the leaves - the last two tweaked heightwise with the Gypsy...although I kept to the original cut for the actual flowerheads...and I even managed to do it in the ad colours!

Btw, does anyone know if there is such a thing as a CREAM or IVORY inkpad?...or a CREAM gel pen?...I don't think I've ever come across either, had to use white for the stamping and faux stitching but cream would have worked better wouldn't it...

Well here are my tag sets.

Tag set one is made from scraps of free papers I used to make some cards last week. The buttons I have had for 15 years (I bought them to go on a quilt) I took the shanks off and glued them on. The tag on the right has a fabric ribbon strip which say's gifts. The stars are old too. I inked the edges with fire brick.

Tag set 2 the papers are fro Michael's, buttons as before. The flower on the left is cut from SB the cut in to a spiral and wound up then placed in a glob of glue. The tree strip is cut from PS. Tha tag on the right uses the Ivy flower stamp that Izzy used the other week on to script paper (they look good in real life). I inked in forest moss.

Tag set 3 the papers are as before. CE ribbon with the tree boarder. The right tag uses silver/white ribbon and buttons from before too.

All tags are cut at 3 1/2 from PS cart. The green ones have been matted on to a shadow cut in kraft card. Odd bits of string and thread used as the ties.

Sue

P.S. I ment to say you can put anything on your tags including spellbinders bits (as I have) as long as the tag has been cut from a cartBigGrin

It's interesting that so many crafters here say they don't use their Cricuts very much. I don't design anything WITHOUT mine! I haven't bothered buying other die makers because the Cricut does everything I want it to. Of course, I do enjoy some texture provided by my Cuttlebug now and then. So I'll have no problem coming up with cards that use Cricut cuts. My FAVE!
