Hi,

I thought I give everyone another heads up.

My HP Laptop with Windows 7 64 bit wouldn't work with the Cricut Sync since it came out. I made sure I had all Windows update, Adobe Air, and made sure the bridges were allowed through Windows Firewall. Nothing worked. Even with the Firewall and anti-virus off it wouldn't work. I worked with Tech Support forever and they couldn't figure it out either.

Well very late last Friday night I decided to go through everything again. I looked at my Windows Firewall and noticed that although the bridges were allowed the Cricut Sync program wasn't an exception. As soon I added it as an exception to Windows Firewall it has worked perfectly! I gave tech support a heads up on this one.

Hope it helps someone else having issues yet!

Marcia

Hmmmmmm...well, I looked and couldn't see it so I added it. However, I have been able to update my Gypsy but have been having a problem with the Imagine. It gets through file 1 of 2 for the firmware but doesn't go on to file 2 od 2. Maybe this would help but not too hopeful!

HEY HEY HEY....I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Thanks for posting this. That is the first thing that I always recommend (along with doing the same for your virus protection program) when the Imagine and your computer are not communicating.

Marcia,
This solution sounds good and I would like to try it. However, I am not very computer savvy so I have a couple of questions.

1. What does Adobe Air have to do with it. If I can sync my gypsy does that mean I have it or don't need it.

2. How do I find my windows firewall settings so I can do this. I can't find it or how to turn off my security software.

Sorry for this, but I would really like to get my imagine updated and working.

Hi,

First off I say I know enough about computers to be dangerous.....

1. I know you need Adobe Air to make the Cricut Sync work. If you can use Cricut Sync you have it. A good way to check is to go to your control panel which is found when you click your start up button in the lower left hand corner. A pop up screen appears and on the right hand side you will see Control Panel. Left click on this to open it. Look for something like add/delete or install/uninstall programs. If you can bring up the uninstall program menu it will list all programs you have on your computer. You can make sure Adobe Air is listed.

2. Go to the Control Panel again and open it. Look for something like Systems and Security. The Firewall is under there. Click on the Firewall. You can turn on or off the Firewall or allow something through it. If you tell it to add/allow something through it will show you all the exception that can come through. There should be one called bridge. If you click on bridge and ask for details it shows the path and will mention cricut sync in it. I had to add the Cricut Sync program to the exceptions besides the bridge and then mine worked perfectly.

As for security software that's another ball of wax since there are so many programs you can get. My suggestion would be to look at your task bar which is usually at the bottom of the computer and somewhere on the right hand side it usually has an icon for the security and says enabled. You can usually right click on it and click disable it. I guess some people have had to add allowances with their security too.

Don't forget if you turn off your firewall or security you must turn them back on! Very important!!!!

Marcia

P.S. Hopefully I've addressed everything correctly - Chris can let us know!
