Difficult cuts

I have two little boys who both love the Cars movies. I love the idea of this cartridge, but have found that the cuts are difficult to get right, and even more difficult to layer. I have had much success when working with larger cuts, such as fit to page, but for small cuts this is extremely difficult. On the plus side, it cuts well from vinyl so it is perfect for wall decor. On the negative side, it doesn't work well with the cricut cake as the cuts are much to detailed.

Cars Cartrige

Cute images on this cartridge but difficult to layer. Definitely should make the cuts larger than 4 inches!

2 Boys

This is a fun cartridge, but the cuts are pretty intricate. I have made foam Maters and used the flames to add style to my son's numbers flashcards. For his Star of the Week poster I used the smirking McQueen and made the eyes green to match my sons. I wish they had similar cartridges with Hot Wheels and Monster Trucks. My boys just love the designs on this one.

So Disappointing!

I was so excited to get this cartridge. With two little boys, it was a huge let down to find out how difficult this cartridge is. The layers are almost impossible (almost) to get right. I tried to cut McQueen out at 4 and 5 inches- there is no way that the machine can cut the fine details like the lightning bolt or 95 on the side. I recut the image at 8 inches which is huge, but the only way I could possibly get the details to come out appropriate. That said, I still can't bring myself to tell someone not to buy this cart. Because it does look great once you've fought with it and completed your project. One thing I didn't like about this cart was that some layers had to be cut out together but were intended to be different colors. For instance the blue windows and yellow accents were on the same layer, so I had to cut them out of both colors and discard (read waste paper) in order to get the correct look. There was no way to avoid this. If my kids weren't crazy over Cars, I would have given up after the first two cuts.
