been waiting for these

I was so lucky to be asked to test out these new mats. I've been waiting for them to come out. They are wonderful!

Happy to See These Mats Released!

I was lucky enough to receive a free sample of the standard grip mat and to test it. I was very happy with it's "stick-to-it-ness"! Although it's for medium weight paper, I used it for both lightweight and heavyweight materials and it worked well.

Extraordinarily awful destroyers of paper.

I can't even tell you how excited I was at the promise of NEW mats ! I have used my old school green ones until the plastic cracked. I always seemed to be able to get "one more cut" out of them. When the white mats came out- ugh! Horrid. The first few cuts were fine, but then they were trash. So I excitedly ordered these brand new mats and received them yesterday. The first time through the machine the paper was stuck on so firmly that I had to use a pan scraper to get it off.... not cool. But, I figured reminiscent of those old mats that I loved so much, after going through that once, it would be smooth sailing from here on. Not. True. I gave up after my 3rd try because even heavy cardstock on these "standard" mats, sticks so tightly that it just shredded coming off. Literally. Shredded. I finally gave up after my 4th try. My paper is still stuck on the mat and will need to be scraped-- literally scraped for try #5. I reluctantly pulled an old mat out of the trash.. not cool, Provocraft. It really upsets me because, in the Cricut you have a revolutionary product that has changed the way many of us do things- but all of the things that go along with it-- that are necessary-- accessories such as replacement blades (which are a crap shoot- sometimes they're great, but most of the time it's like trying to cut paper with a butter knife), mats, etc.. are overpriced junk. Even the craft room software is a frustrating, freezing, illogical nightmare. I beg you, as someone who relies on her Cricut for so much, to work harder on creating a better and more consistent product for the consumers who have already shelled out hundreds of dollars on this luxury item.

Cricut released three cutting mats based on consumer needs and their feedback. Insight from consumers show there are many ways people expect to interact with their cutting mats. The Cricut StandardGrip Cutting Mat was designed to have a strong hold on materials placed on them. This hold may require the use of tools to carefully remove cuts. If your preference is a more delicate hold for materials, we suggest you try the new Cricut LightGrip Cutting Mat. This mat can be used on light-weight to mid-weight materials and most materials will remove easily without the assistance of tools. Cricut has also introduced a StrongGrip Cutting Mat which is designed to work with mid-weight to heavy-weight materials, this mat also features extended life adhesive technology which means it will last longer than most mats based on the materials that are cut on them. We value your opinion and hope this information acts as a guides as you explore some of the great products Cricut has to offer.

Love the Mat!

This is the best mat ever,  it lasts long and has a perfect grip. I've used it for various types of paper from thin to thick and I was happy with the results!

AMAZING!

I just received my new mats and they are amazing. I have gotten double the cuts from just one mat then from 2 of the old mats and there is still plenty of stickiness to do 100s of more cuts! THANK YOU Provo Craft for finally correcting the issue with the mats!

The StandardGrip mat is a multi-purpose mat that is perfect for a wide range of medium-weight materials, including patterned paper, vinyl, iron-on, and cardstock. Two mats are included in each package. Using both mats allows you to cut one image while working on another.

For use with:
  • Cricut Expression® machine
  • Cricut Expression® 2 machine
Includes:
  • Two 12" x 12" StandardGrip adhesive cutting mats 
Recommended materials:
  • Cardstock
  • Pattern Paper
  • Embossed Cardstock
  • Iron-on

Tips:
  • Keep the clear film cover on the mat when storing to keep mat free from paper scraps and dust.
  • Use the scraper to scrape away excess pieces and the spatula to carefully remove cut images.
  • To ensure best performance, use the recommended material types on each of the three mats.
