I am reading both this board and the tech board; and, I am overwhelmed with the number of TECHNICAL problems I see with the Gypsy.

How many board users are actually experiencing TECHNICAL problems with their Gypsy; and, at this point, how has your problem(s) been handled by Provo Craft. Are you happy with the Customer Service you have received?

I am suggesting we centralize technical problems........ I would like to see how many users are actually affected. Daily, I will tally the issues so we have a complete picture of the technical issues users are experiencing and the end result.

Please include the following information:

Computer Operating System:

Cricut Firmware:
Gypsy Firmware Version and Build
Design Studio Version:

Specific Problem:

Customer Service Response:

Where you are in the Customer Service Process:

Initial Date You began Process with Customer Service:

I have had no problem with mine at all.  I don't want to sound bad,
but I wonder how many of these problems can be traced to the fact
that users are totally left on their own to figure it out since no manual
came with it?  I just think if people would be able to take it out of the box, open a manual and start to go page by page, there might be a lot
less problems.  I am a visual person, so it is much better for me to see
what needs to be done.  I do think all the videos on Michaels.com and
youtube have really helped also.

Cricut Firmware: Baby Bug I preformed the 1st update only
Gypsy Firmware Version and Build Version 1.1, Build 0015

Specific Problem: My G froze after day one.

Customer Service Response: It took awhile but they finally issued a return ticket and shipped me a supposedly new G(it had dust in the screw holes so I'm not that sure it's brand, brand new). So far, so good with the new one. I've loaded all my carts and have been successfully cutting and welding = simple projects though.

I have to agree with you - I thought and still think the same thing. However, once I received my G and it froze on me I thought a little differently. I worked with gals on this board and with CS and the thing was just plain broken! PC called me once they received it and sent me a new one.

They really should have been smarter to put some type of instructions in the box. Look at the book they put in with the cartridges - multi color, multi language and spiral bound. They do this for a $60 cart and they can't even put in a simple quick start guide for a $300 item? Poor planning on their part.

Computer Operating System: Windows XP Pro, SP3 with all updates
Sync Version: 1.1.3586.23506
Cricut Firmware: 2.34
Gypsy Firmware Version and Build: ? Problem occurred before the 0115 update.
Design Studio Version: latest update before it was pulled

Specific Problem: A few minutes after finishing the last update, I was working on a file, and received a message that there was a "security breach". I turned the Gypsy off. The Gypsy then would freeze on the "Loading" screen.

Customer Service Response: I was told to return the Gypsy to PC for replacement and received an email FedEx label.

Where you are in the Customer Service Process: My Gypsy was just delivered to PC today (11/3).

Initial Date You began Process with Customer Service: 10/22 - rec'd label quickly, but I was sick and did not mail the Gypsy out for 5 days.
Closing Date with Customer Service: awaiting replacement

To access your Gypsy Sync version, open the software, click the Help menu, then About...

Please include the following information:

Computer Operating System: Vista 32 bit
Sync Version: I didn't get the update that was pulled....just the one before that.
Cricut Firmware: v2.44
Gypsy Firmware Version and Build: didn't get the pulled update.
Design Studio Version: got the most recent update...not sure the number

Specific Problem: Gypsy stopped communicating with E and with Computer.

Customer Service Response: CS thought it might be a problem with my USB cord, but then when my G would not communicate with the E or the laptop, it was determined that the USB port going out of my G is bad. I was asked to send it back. I'm waiting for my call tag.

Where you are in the Customer Service Process: Waiting for call tag

Initial Date You began Process with Customer Service: November 2nd
Closing Date with Customer Service:

Sorry I don't have all my firmware numbers, the only update I did not get was the one that was pulled last week.
Thanks

Updated CDS on Wednesday evening of last week. Did not realize that things were not working and the Gypsy update was pulled.
Design Studio Version: latest update before it was pulled. Updated the Cricut which is V 2.34. When trying to cut, says a update is needed for the Gypsy, tried again to update the G but nothing. Did e mail support but did not get any response.
All my cartridges are loaded and I was able to use everything before the update.
I cannot cut with the Gypsy!!!!! and that makes the machine worthless to me now. Sorry I bought it, sorry that I have a product just sitting there and not be able to cut with it.

Well, I cant get my gypsy to cut.  Get an error message about not being authorized to cut the shapes, which I dont understand especially since I loaded all of my cartridges allegedly successfully.  I have the V1.32 update so I guess that is right.  I just know that I am a little upset that I cant use this gypsy.  I am beginning to feel like I have been gyped alright.  Does anyone have any ideas?  thanks/

Cricut Firmware: Expression 2.34
Gypsy Firmware Version and Build: Version 1.1, Build 0115
Design Studio Version: 1.0.31026.1
Specific Problem: Was working with Gypsy with its limited capabilities (and my own, as well) until DS and Gypsy updates were released. Updated DS, but did not have a chance to update Gypsy before update was pulled. Unable to communicate from my computer to DS at that time. Unable to cut Gypsy projects on E at that time.

Customer Service Response: No call made to CS -- Reading MB for info, waiting for updates to be made available.

Where you are in the Customer Service Process: To remedy my solution, I uninstalled the updated DS and reverted to older version. I am once again able to use DS. Being fortunate enough to have 2 E’s (one of which I had not updated since initial update upon receiving Gypsy, I am able to use Gypsy on alternate E.

WAITING, waiting, waiting ...

Updated CDS on Wednesday of last week. Had no clue there were so many problems with the latest update.
Design Studio Version: latest update before it was pulled. Updated the Cricut which is V 2.34. When trying to cut, says a update is needed for the Gypsy, tried again to update the G but nothing.

Spoke with Darren last Wednesday and was told they were hoping to have this fixed by this Friday, STILL WAITING!!

Honestly I was enjoying my G but now it is sitting in the bag. USELESS!

Would really like to know what is the latest information available as to when this will be corrected!

Many thanks to the people who are taking the time to report......

I know its not a simple post that you can dash off......... but I think it it is very important that we centralize technical problems.
