For those of you on the fence about whether to get a G or not, I wanted to share a couple of things that I realized last evening. This machine may be small and has had its problems, but it truly is a little dynamo. Having all of your carts at your fingertips is amazing. When you want a saying or a particular design, the search feature is invaluable. I am making cuts and using carts that I haven't ever used before now. I didn't know half of the stuff even existed on them. I heard stories on the MB about the cutting being slow. I have had no problems and it seems to cut just as fast as the cricut with a cart in it. The bonus for me is the ability to leave my carts with my daughter so she can play here in IL and I can be cutting/creating with the same carts back in MD. If something happens to my G, I still have the cartridges at my disposal as backup. There has been one downfall. I search for an image and it turns out I don't have the cart that it's on, so the overwhelming urge to run and buy it is vicious. So far I've managed to find suitable replacement images, but look out Black Friday.

I totally agree! I love my Gypsy! I find myself using carts I hadn't used in forever. It is a great machine.

I totally agree!! I almost cancelled my order after reading all of the negative posts, but I decided to try it out for myself b/c I got it from HSN and had the 30 option to return. I'm SO glad I kept it. I have had ZERO problems with it (even before the last update). The screen is very clear too. I didn't think I would need the portable option, but let me tell you it is so nice to have. I sat at my son's karate practice and designed a page - it is a great benefit.

Reddy, you have a tough decision. I use my Create more than my E for most things, so I'd have to lean toward the G. I find the easier to use than my DS for everyday kinda things. DS and the E are good for big or special projects, but I don't do that many things that require that much mat real estate. My daughter is awake and wants to know if we are going to shop or scrap first. I raised her well didn't I?

My gypsy is attached to my hip. I LOVE IT, the design capabilities are endless. I agree, I'm using carts and images that I didn't know I had!! This is the best scrapbook item I have bought (other than the E of course). I've never used DS in my life, and if I can figure this little gadget out and get designing, then I think the learning curve isn't that bad

My Gypsy Woman has a permanent home - right at my side! I love being able to design and cut anywhere. I don't have to change out carts every time I cut something and it has enabled me to get more done. I create in down time (time away from cricut) and cut and LO on my days off, which has made me more efficient. My designs seem to be getting better and better and I AM ENJOYING MYSELF rather than feeling like I should just get a project done. I love my little Gypsy Woman who struts her stuff even though she is a petite little thing!

Oh I so agree!!! I almost cancelled my order because of all the negative responses. I am so glad that I didn't. I usually like to make up my own mind and not go by others right away because what one doesn't like, others will. For me I wanted to hold and play with the Gypsy in the comfort of my own home-not in a store with store employees hanging over me telling me times up. The screen size was my biggest hang up about trying the Gypsy, but it really is easy to use and see-the zooms work great. I have to zoom on DS as well. I am really glad that I saw this through and ordered from HSN. I have had time to try it out and there is no going back for me. I have linked my carts (all 70+) and I am very satisfied with this little machine!! Is there room for improvements?? Of course, isn't that with all electronics?! I don't think you can go wrong with the Gypsy. If price is a concern, order through HSN on flex pay, plus if you don't like it you can return it. You can't do that at Michaels or ACM. I just got my Gypsy on Nov. 3. I've already got the hang of it. Of course it helped reading lots about it on this mb. A manuel would have been nice to have though, but there is one in the Gypsy forum. Please give this little machine a chance, you might find that you love it too!!!

I love mine also. I find welding so much easier than in DS. I love the Search feature better, my list of loves for the gypsy can go on and on.. I have had no issues with the Gypsy what so ever and I am looking forward to the Photo App!

I BOUGHT THE GYPSY AND RETURNED IT. BEING DISABLED IT WAS TO HARD TO HANDLE AND TO HARD TO SEE. I HOPE THEY KEEP UP WITH CDS IF ONLY FOR THE DISABLED PEOPLE OUT HERE. OR COME UP WITH A LARGER HANDHELD . NO ONE THOUGHT ABOUT US WHEN THEY CAME UP WITH THE GYPSY.

As someone trying to master the Gypsy, DS and two cricuts, I can say it has been an adventure. All in all, I am really liking the Gypsy. It takes time to learn what it can do. But it is possible. PC has made mistakes, but I think they are trying to make up for that. Anything new and unfamiliar is a challenge, but in the end it will be worth it.

I have had my Gypsy for 11 days now. It was an Anniversary gift from DH. I was so surprised and thrilled to get the Gypsy. DH went to Michael's bought it, the pink bling sleeve and 3 extra stylus' all by himself. I wanted to keep the Gypsy, wanted to take it back because we had agreed no gifts, and then there were all the negative posts. I got to keep the Gypsy, no problems, especially after all the updates. I find it easier to use than DS, which is easy to use, I love the portability. I've been able to hang out in bed with DH on Saturday morning's, he watches the football stuff and I have been learning the Gypsy. I didn't honestly think I knew all that much about the Gypsy, until I was at JoAnn's this morning and I knew so much more about the Gypsy than the sales ****ociate, that I talked her into purchasing one. I say go for it, enjoy it.

I am still on the edge.. thanks for this post.. I think having all the carts at your finger would be a great benefit when you have lots of carts like some of us do... That is one of my main reasons for wanting it but I am trying to justify spending $300 on a cartridge storage device.. need to really think how much I would use it.. I will continue to think about it.. thanks again for the review!

I know I will get it but just waiting for the bugs to get worked out. I too think having all the carts at your finger tips would be great but kinda expensive for a storage system, like Kristin said. But I know me And I will have one sooner or later.

Hi! I'm unsure about the "bugs" I've read a lot of the positive and negatives and I really don't have any problems. It does what it does, if they don't add anything else from this point forward, I'm happy. Since PC is adding stuff, for free no less, it sure beats buying apps for my touch. The Gypsy is easy to use. I'm a big believer in pushing a button to see what it does, then hitting the delete button and trying again. The search feature works, the copy feature works, the flip/weld works. The preview is so helpful. Does it omit or hide contour - no. I can't get that feature to work well for me on DS so it's a wash. The screen is small - yes, so is the screen on an I-phone, I-touch or other such devices. The zoom feature works so well you can manipulate a 1/4" image. Where do I use it? Wow, I agree, it does seem like an expensive cart storage unit until..... You use it in the strangest places, I've used it in bed on Saturday morning with DH while he watches the football stuff and you can design (or push this button and see what it does). Sitting on the couch with the family, in the car, at a freshman football game (our son doesn't play since he graduated, so I was the driver for DD and friends). I took it to church to get some names spelled right for the bulletin board. I took it to work and arranged the cuts for the classroom calendar. I'm sure others use it while waiting for kids at an activity, in doctor or hospital waiting rooms, traveling, etc... I suppose the uses are as unique as the users. I made a Tie-fighter for DS, because he said does it only hold carts. I am no longer sitting on the only compter in the house and others can't use the computer. I like that I can plug the Gypsy in, hit cut, and not have to hover to change cartridges. I like that I understand this, I can work it, it's portable and fun. Do I wish it cost less? Yes. Does this mean I won't be buying carts for a while? Yes!! Regrets? No. Good Luck with your decision. The price did keep me from buying a Gypsy, it is a lot to ask of DH. If he hadn't bought it for me, I wouldn't be a happy user. He's happy because I like it so much, and I'm with him more than off on the computer. He doesn't care that I'm ignoring him, he's just rather I ignore him in the same room, LOL!!!!
