I was just wondering, how much would you spend on an opened/used cart? Seeing you can get them on sale for $30-$50 dollars brand new. I'm not sure I would spend $30 on a used one. I think $25 would be the most for me.

Has someone already linked it to a Gypsy? If so, I think $10-15 would be my limit since it would mean that I would be limited in how I could use it. I don't have a Gypsy yet, but once all of the bugs are worked out I may get one. I don't want to buy a cart I can't use.

I agree that if it has been linked to a Gypsy- no more than $10.  If it is NWOB (New without Box) then maybe $20-$25 depending on the cart. For solutions- I would pay $10.  People have to careful to ask about the Gypsy link because I found several listings on Ebay from private sellers, not retailers, selling carts that have been linked. The listing said used but nothing about Gypsy.  I had to "ask the seller a ?".  In fact here in KC, someone had a posting on CL about wanting to pay to swap and link. A BIG NO NO!  It disappeared a few days later.  I am sure they were flagged. So I would ASK ASK ASK!

Hey, I am from KC. I think I saw that craigslist ad, and I e-mailed her and told her that you can only link a cart once, and the next day that post was gone. I don't know if she just didn't know or what...

I wouldn't spend more than 15.00 on a used cart. I am always seeing ads on my craigs list for "lightly used" carts for 35-40 bucks..ummmm, no. No way.

Actually, isn't selling linked cartridges illegal ??? I guess I would have to buy new ones just to be sure anymore.

I agree with Elisa, Other than the linked part, only because I don't anticipate buying the gypsy. Just looking at my own carts that I've had for a couple years and those that I just bought I can't tell the difference.  I also keep my carts in the ribbon snap on storage case and i've printed my books so the books and boxes are put away.  So they aren't getting any use or wear.

I'd probably just search for a cheap new one, but if I couldn't find one I'd probably go with the rest and say no more than $15.

In the future I may get a Gypsy so that would be a concern for me.

I agree with both Ladies, but I think you also need to look at what cart it is, for instance I have purchased carts exclusive to a bundle (Potpourri Basket) and spent good money on it, but I couldn't get it anywhere else. I know many wouldn't do that, so I gues it depends on how much you want the cart in question. I can always justify my purchase :-)

With the G out, the whole buying used carts thing gets tricky. . . I don't know if I would even consider buying a used one anymore considering you can find brand new carts pretty cheap if you look around of them.

I would still buy used cartridges because I have no intentions of ever getting a Gypsy, so it wouldn't matter to me if they had been previously linked.

However, as I understand it, people aren't "technically" supposed to sell cartridges that have been linked.  So, once you link it, you're kind of married to it, I suppose!

I guessed it depends on the cart. For ones like Storybook, HKG, GS, or the brand new ones I wouldn't mind having a used one.And I'd pay tops 30 bucks for those.

I have bought more than 40 different carts on Ebay and have never paid more than $25 for any one. I don't plan on buying a gypsy so I guess it wouldn't matter to me if it was used or not as long as everything was complete. But, being used, you have to expect a deal. So, $15 would probably be my limit for used.

I have bought new and pre Gypsy used carts on ebay. I don't plan on getting a Gypsy, but things change so I have asked sellers if their used carts are linked. But lately it seems like the used carts are only going for only about $5.00 less than the new ones. I really find that odd. So I haven't bought any used. I also think it is funny people trying to sell on ebay and craigslist a used cart and asking $30.00 for it. Some craigslist people even ask $40.00. I guess they paid $80 and think half is a good deal. I guess it would be except we all know they can be had brand new for $30. esp with BF on its way.

I have 2 carts listed on Kijiji (like Craig's list) for $35 CAN (about $30 US). I now have 10 emails to return. People here don't seem to go look for deals, so jump on even that price. I'm now thinking I'm not asking enough! LOL

I am like the queen of sales. I am really big into buying used because I like to give things a new life. I think cartridges are going to be my big NO, I won't do it item.

The whole it might be linked to a Gypsy scares me off. Even if I found one at the thrift store I would be nervous trying it.
