I just did a gypsy sync and said a gypsy update was available and to download and install... I've done it twice and get the same messsage form windows.
"gypsy sync has stopped working.... A problem caused the program to stop working..."
I can't get beyond this... anyone else get this error message???
Any solutions???
That's what I get for doing this when cust. support is closed!!! I have no desire to mess up my computer....

p.s. this gypsy is great, but it's a love hate relationship... it's not just plug and play... alot of glitches and bugs and NO CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS or WARNINGS, that there may be errors... and if there are errors, how to fix.... VERY FRUSTRATED!

I'm in the same boat...and it's frustrating. I wanted the update to go smoothly but no such luck. I love my gypsy when it works...but it's definately love/hate. Hopefully we'll get an answer soon...but it's nice to know I'm not alone.

fyi, I've now tried 3 times... to uninstall and re-install... I tried disabling the virus protection/firewalll (as advised in other posts) and I get the SAME error... I hope it doesn't affect my cricut or ability to communicate with my expression... I don't believe it got to "communicate" with the gypsy in this whole process...
FRUSTRATED!!! I waited a couple days to let all the kinks work themselves out (I heard alot of people had problems) and finally decided to update after hearing positive reviews and THIS happens... I have to admit this is the 1st electronic device that I have owned that has had so many "issues" from the get go!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! If it weren't for what it can do when it works... I would have returned this puppy a long time ago...

same error message here - just trying to update to so I can sync George . . .he is my only loney cartridge left un-synced! frustrating
*****UPDATE: I just took the advice of someone else and right clicked on it and ran it as an administrator and it WORKED!!!!!

Someone said that they did something to the update today, if so that must be what is causing this issue. Are you all running Vista as well?

You can sync your George through your expression... put the cartridge in your expession, connect your gypsy to your expression , and hit link cartridge on the gypsy... it should work.... :)

You guys downloaded today's version of Gypsy Sync, and that's where you get the issue? I've tried it on two computers so far, and it's working fine for me. (And I deliberately made files with all the special characters on the Gypsy keyboard, including comma, to make sure Gypsy Sync got along with them.) I haven't seen problems. I've only used XP, though. What windows versions are you using?

I don't have a vista machine, so I can't try it. Can you tell what version of Gypsy Sync you're running? (Help|About) Or does it crash too soon?
If you start Gypsy Sync without your Gypsy connected, does it still crash? (It doesn't seem like it checks for updates when Gypsy isn't conected.)

I had the same problem too. I'm also running Vista. I right clicked on the Gypsy Sync Icon on my desktop clicked on "Run as Administrator", and it worked! I have not tried to do much with the Gypsy yet, but I was able to get the sync program to work tonight after running it as an administrator. Hope this helps!
